So the local legend goes that this sculpture/image of the Virgin Mary came out of the rock on its own. As the story goes it started off as a face and started to come out slowly out of the rock until it was a completely visible so they built an altar/church around it. As it goes now more and more images are still coming out of the rock. Believe it if you like.
